Yes! When the report is filed, the carrier will receive an email with a link to respond to the report. The response will be visible to all users of Carrier Assure. If you are a carrier and you have not received such an email prompting your response to a report, please email us at tech@carrierassure.com
We will try to assist carriers with any disputes when possible. Please email us at tech@carrierassure.com and provide us with a summary of your dispute. Due to staffing shortages, we cannot discuss the reports over the phone.
Yes. Each type of SuspectCarrier Report impacts a carrier’s score depending on the severity of the reason selected and depending on how recent the incident occured.
Currently, we have 7 reasons: double brokering, hostage load, cargo claim issue, no insurance, theft, fraud, customer solicitation, and suspicious activity.
Does the score include violations?
From an industry perspective, double brokering is when a carrier informs a broker or shipper that the carrier will transport the goods under specific DOT and MC numbers and the carrier in turns, gives or transports the shipment under different DOT and MC numbers.
When a carrier brokers a shipment to another DOT and/or MC number without informing the customer, it is considered one of the worst things a carrier can do to a broker or shipper. Indeed, many major shippers and brokers will never work with a carrier again for such conduct. This is because double brokering is tightly correlated with theft, cargo claims, hostage loads, no insurance, and other serious service related issues.
No, so long as the carrier actually used an owner operator and did not use another carrier - which is brokering without permission. The difference is that when a carrier uses an owner operator, the owner operator transports the goods using the carriers DOT and MC number. When a carrier engages in brokering, the DOT and MC number changes. So, if the carrier provides a shipper and broker with a DOT/MC number and the goods are transported under a different DOT/MC number, that is not an owner operator, that is brokering (ie double brokering).
There are many users who are experts in the industry and are able to quickly recognize chameleon carriers and carriers who may engage in wrongdoing such as double brokering, fraud and theft. Those users will use the reason “Suspicious Activity” to file a report to warn other users that this carrier may engage in wrongful conduct. Examples include, associated entities, falsified bills of lading or other documents, the use of factoring companies well known to be involved in certain wrongdoing and more.
If a significant amount of our advanced users utilize the “unfair” button, the report may be removed. Advanced users are users that have been verified by Carrier Assure as a trusted industry expert.
It's easy! When you are on that particular carrier’s profile, navigate to the reports tab, place your cursor on the right hand side of the page and scroll down. You should see your past report filed against that carrier. You can edit, delete or file another report for a different reason.
